The North Central Alabama Substance Abuse Council (NCASAC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals in the rehabilitation process and educating them about substance abuse. The organization plays a crucial role in providing mandated Court Referral Education Programs, helping individuals navigate the challenges of recovery. Substance abuse not only impacts the individual but also affects their family, which is why NCASAC emphasizes the importance of involving the whole family in the recovery process when possible. Family therapy is often recommended as it helps address the interpersonal issues that arise from addiction.
NCASAC operates under the guidance of an eight-member board of directors, which meets quarterly to oversee the organization's activities. The board appoints an Executive Director to manage the day-to-day operations of the organization. Regular board meetings are held at the Administrative Office in Cullman, Alabama. As a contracted provider with the state of Alabama, NCASAC plays a vital role in offering education and support to individuals involved in the substance abuse system, aiming to foster long-term recovery and positive change in the lives of those affected by addiction.
