The Outpatient Substance Use Program (SUP) at West Alabama Mental Health Center offers comprehensive support to individuals struggling with substance abuse and addiction while allowing them to remain in their community. Serving residents of the M-10 Catchment area, the program’s mission is to help clients confront addiction and develop a sustainable, drug-free lifestyle. This is achieved through outpatient counseling and referrals to additional services as necessary. The program prioritizes individuals based on specific criteria, such as pregnant women, those with intravenous substance use disorders, and individuals with dependent children or HIV. Services are tailored to meet the individual needs of each client, including individual and group therapy, assessments, ongoing monitoring, and family therapy when appropriate. For those needing more intensive care, referrals to inpatient treatment are also available.
In addition to the substance use program, the West Alabama Mental Health Center provides a Prevention Program aimed at reducing substance abuse and related risks in both adults and children. This program focuses on high-risk individuals and families, identifying participants through referrals and assessments to offer prevention-based services. Furthermore, the Court Referral Program helps offenders involved in substance-related crimes or domestic violence by providing educational programming designed to foster positive behavioral changes. This program serves individuals ordered by courts in Sumter, Marengo, Hale, and Greene Counties. Through these services, West Alabama Mental Health Center strives to support individuals and communities in creating healthier, drug-free environments.
