The Court Referral Department at NACOLG oversees two important programs: the Court Referral Education Program (CREP) and the Defensive Driving Course (DDC). CREP offers substance abuse education programs that are approved by the Alabama Administrative Office of Courts for Colbert, Franklin, and Lauderdale Counties. The program includes Level I (12 hours), Level II (24 hours), and Youth Juvenile (12 hours) courses, with classes available in both English and Spanish. These programs are designed to assist individuals who have been referred by the court system to address substance abuse issues.
In addition to CREP, the department also administers the DDC program, which is managed through the National Safety Council. This program provides both 4-hour and 8-hour defensive driving courses, available for participants in Colbert, Franklin, and Lauderdale Counties, as well as for those referred from outside the region or state.
Both programs are entirely self-supporting, meaning they do not rely on local, state, or federal funding. The services are designed to meet the needs of individuals who are referred by the court, providing them with necessary education and skills to address their issues responsibly and improve their future behavior.
