Urban Community Action Network, Inc. (U.C.A.N)

Urban Community Action Network, Inc. (U.C.A.N) is dedicated to empowering individuals and strengthening communities through education, outreach, and personal growth. With a focus on helping the formerly incarcerated and those recovering from substance use disorders, U.C.A.N provides vital resources and programs designed to support long-term success and positive life change. Among its key services are Anger Management Classes, which equip participants with the tools to understand, control, and redirect anger in constructive ways. These classes help individuals rebuild relationships, improve communication, and develop the emotional resilience needed to thrive in their personal and professional lives.

Beyond anger management, U.C.A.N actively engages in community outreach, offering assistance and referrals for individuals experiencing homelessness and connecting people to essential health and wellness resources. Their mission is rooted in the belief that when individuals are empowered to heal, grow, and contribute, the entire community benefits. Through ongoing training, education, and support, U.C.A.N works to reduce barriers, create opportunities, and foster unity across diverse neighborhoods.

Led by Executive Director DeJuan “DJ” Verrett, the organization continues to build partnerships and expand its impact, guided by the vision of helping every member of the community “live the life their soul intends them to live.” With the help of donors, volunteers, and community allies, U.C.A.N continues to be a force for transformation and hope throughout Los Angeles and beyond.
