A Place Called Home (APCH) empowers youth and families in South Central Los Angeles through a wide range of transformative programs focused on emotional growth, academic achievement, and long-term success. For more than 30 years, APCH has provided free afterschool, summer, and supportive services that nurture resilience, creativity, and confidence in children and young adults from second grade through their mid-20s. Grounded in the organization’s core R.E.A.C.H. values—Respect, Empathy, Accountability, Courage, and Hope—APCH has helped more than 20,000 young people discover their strengths and build pathways toward brighter futures.

Through its holistic approach, APCH offers academic tutoring, mentoring, and college readiness programs alongside robust opportunities in music, visual arts, digital media, dance, athletics, and culinary arts. These diverse offerings help youth explore new passions while preparing them for higher education and meaningful careers. The organization also provides vital mental health and counseling services, addressing emotional well-being, managing stress, and supporting positive behavior—including anger management and conflict resolution skills—to help youth navigate challenges in healthy, constructive ways.

In addition to personal development, APCH fosters practical life and career skills through resume-building workshops, paid internships, and college scholarships for first-generation students. With an impressive 92% high school graduation rate among seniors, APCH continues to break cycles of poverty and inspire success across generations. By combining compassion with opportunity, A Place Called Home is transforming lives and strengthening the South Los Angeles community—one young person at a time.
