Behavioral Health Services, Inc. (BHS) is a nonprofit, community-based healthcare organization dedicated to improving lives through comprehensive treatment, recovery, and prevention services. Since 1973, BHS has proudly served nearly 300,000 individuals across Southern California, providing integrated care that promotes wellness, independence, and long-term recovery. With 26 locations, BHS offers a full continuum of services, including detoxification, residential and outpatient treatment, mental health care, alcohol and drug prevention, DUI/DUI-MAT programs, and youth services.

A vital part of BHS’s work focuses on helping individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, including those involved in the criminal justice system, the homeless, and the uninsured. Through its Client Engagement and Navigation Services (CENS), BHS connects people with the resources they need—such as public benefits, education, and treatment referrals—while offering outreach to vulnerable communities throughout Los Angeles, Long Beach, Venice Beach, and Skid Row.

Anger management is also an essential component within BHS’s therapeutic programs, helping clients recognize triggers, develop healthy coping strategies, and manage emotions constructively as part of their overall recovery journey. Whether through individual counseling, group sessions, or integrated mental health treatment, BHS equips clients with practical tools to rebuild relationships and achieve emotional balance.
