Action Family is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families and teens navigate the complex challenges of adolescence, such as substance abuse, rebellion, low self-esteem, poor communication, and emotional distress related to family conflict or societal pressures. Through its ACTION Parent & Teen Support Program, the organization provides a safe and supportive space for both parents and teens to come together, share experiences, and find practical solutions for healthier family dynamics. Parents meet in guided support groups led by trained facilitators who have personal experience raising teenagers and understand the struggles families face.

While parents receive guidance and encouragement, teens attend their own sessions led by licensed and certified counselors who specialize in working with youth. These sessions teach positive coping strategies, communication skills, and emotional regulation tools that promote responsible decision-making and reduce destructive behaviors such as anger outbursts, substance use, or defiance. The program emphasizes that there are no “bad kids”—only young people who need help learning better ways to handle their emotions and choices.

In addition to its free weekly support groups, Action Family offers individual and family counseling, anger management education, crisis intervention, drug testing, and inpatient and outpatient treatment programs throughout Los Angeles, Ventura, and Kern Counties. With decades of dedication to supporting families, Action Family provides a compassionate path toward healing, growth, and stronger relationships—empowering parents and teens alike to find hope, balance, and lasting change.
