Helpline Youth Counseling, Inc. (HYC) has been serving Southeast Los Angeles and Long Beach since 1971, empowering youth and families to overcome barriers to self-sufficiency and emotional well-being. Through compassionate, trauma-informed care, HYC provides behavioral health, family, housing, and youth services designed to strengthen individuals and communities. Its Behavioral Health Services division offers evidence-based individual, family, and group therapy, as well as outpatient treatment for substance use and co-occurring disorders. These programs address a range of issues including trauma, depression, anxiety, anger, and emotional regulation. HYC’s anger management counseling helps clients identify triggers, build coping skills, and foster healthier communication, reducing conflict in relationships and daily life.

In addition to therapy, HYC operates the Enhanced Care Management (ECM) program, a free statewide Medi-Cal benefit that coordinates medical, behavioral, and social support for high-need individuals, including those experiencing homelessness or living with serious mental health and substance use challenges. The organization also promotes community dialogue around mental health through initiatives like its Let’s Talk About It podcast, which normalizes seeking help and breaks down stigma through open, supportive conversations.

Rooted in integrity and community empowerment, HYC’s 2022–2025 Strategic Plan focuses on expanding programs, strengthening organizational capacity, and ensuring fiscal sustainability. Whether through counseling, crisis intervention, or youth development activities, HYC continues its mission to “build our youth for the future” by offering hope, healing, and practical tools for lifelong resilience.
