Homeless Intervention Services of Orange County (HIS-OC) is dedicated to helping individuals and families transition from homelessness to stability through comprehensive, compassionate support. Since 1989, HIS-OC has provided emergency shelter, transitional housing, and community-based programs for families, youth, and seniors at risk of homelessness. Their trauma-informed approach focuses on restoring dignity and hope, combining housing with personalized case management, job training, therapy, and educational opportunities. Through this wraparound model, participants gain the tools and confidence needed to rebuild their lives and achieve long-term self-sufficiency.
HIS-OC’s transitional housing programs serve families and young adults, providing a safe and supportive environment where residents can focus on education, career development, and financial stability. Specialized programs, such as the HomeShare and HomeShare Plus initiatives, connect students and seniors in mutually beneficial living arrangements that promote affordable housing and community connection. In addition, HIS-OC offers a Senior Transitional Housing Program, an FCC Emergency Shelter, and a Housing Connection Program to guide individuals through every step of their housing journey.
Beyond shelter, HIS-OC emphasizes emotional wellness and mental health support, recognizing that managing stress, conflict, and anger is a critical part of achieving independence. By offering access to counseling and supportive services that address underlying emotional challenges, HIS-OC helps individuals not only find a home but also develop healthier ways to navigate life’s difficulties. Guided by compassion and inclusion, HIS-OC empowers every participant to move from crisis to comfort—building stability, resilience, and a renewed sense of purpose in the process.
