The Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center (FPJDC) is committed to helping at-risk youth and those involved in the juvenile justice system build positive futures through rehabilitation, education, and behavioral development. Guided by its mission to promote pro-social behaviors, FPJDC creates safe, structured environments that prioritize the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of every youth in its care. The Center focuses on restoring accountability and personal growth while maintaining the safety of both the community and its residents.
A key component of FPJDC’s approach is its emphasis on education and skill-building. In partnership with the Tangipahoa Parish School System, certified teachers provide daily instruction in core academic subjects, ensuring that students continue their education while in detention. Classes are designed to mirror traditional school settings, complete with class rotations and summer programming to support ongoing learning and academic progress.
Beyond academics, FPJDC integrates evidence-based programs that address emotional regulation, personal responsibility, and behavioral change. These initiatives often include anger management training, helping youth understand and manage emotions in healthy ways, reduce impulsive behavior, and develop constructive coping strategies. Through these rehabilitative services, FPJDC empowers young people to take responsibility for their actions, strengthen their decision-making skills, and prepare for successful reintegration into their communities. The center’s comprehensive approach reflects its dedication to guiding youth toward personal transformation, accountability, and long-term success.
