For more than 150 years, HeartShare has been a driving force for positive change in New York City, empowering individuals and families who have been overlooked or underestimated. Rooted in compassion and inclusion, the organization believes every New Yorker deserves to be heard, respected, and supported in achieving their fullest potential. Through two major divisions—Developmental Disability Services and St. Vincent’s Family Services—HeartShare provides a wide range of programs that promote stability, mental wellness, and independence for people of all ages and backgrounds.
St. Vincent’s Family Services offers a strong network of mental health support for children, youth, and families coping with trauma, poverty, or separation. The agency provides comprehensive therapeutic care, including individual, family, and group therapy, as well as specialized services such as anger management, art therapy, and emotional regulation programs. These initiatives are designed to help individuals build resilience, improve communication, and learn healthier ways to manage emotions and relationships.
HeartShare’s Developmental Disability Services division supports more than 2,500 children and adults each year, helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities gain independence and self-confidence through personalized care, creative expression, and community inclusion. Programs like ArtShare encourage creativity and empowerment by allowing participants to use art as a powerful form of communication and self-discovery.
With a mission centered on empathy, belief, and community, HeartShare continues to expand its reach, offering innovative and inclusive programs that open doors of opportunity for New Yorkers to live fuller, more connected lives.
