Michael Fischman, MA, MSW, LCSW-R, CGP, CAMS II, DVS I, is a seasoned psychoanalyst and clinical social worker with more than 25 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families achieve emotional and psychological healing. As Director of The Institute for Psychotherapeutic Advancement, he offers a deeply integrative and insight-oriented approach grounded in Freudian, Jungian, and modern psychoanalytic traditions. His philosophy centers on guiding clients to listen to their inner voice and uncover the creativity and wisdom within themselves, fostering self-understanding, emotional balance, and purpose.
A Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS II) and Domestic Violence Specialist (DVS I), Mr. Fischman provides court-mandated therapy and anger management counseling designed to help clients identify the roots of destructive behaviors and replace them with healthier patterns of response. He recognizes that anger, like many emotions, can become addictive, and his work helps individuals regain control, reduce conflict, and cultivate empathy and communication in relationships.
His specialties include anxiety, depression, addiction, impulse control, and mood disorders, as well as couples and family therapy, personality disorders, and self-destructive behaviors. Whether working with individuals struggling with chronic emotional distress or couples facing communication breakdowns, Mr. Fischman creates a safe, challenging, and transformative space for growth. His extensive training and professional affiliations—including membership in the National Anger Management Association and multiple psychotherapy associations—reflect his commitment to providing expert, compassionate care that leads clients toward lasting change and personal empowerment.
