HALos, Inc. (Help After Loss) is a compassionate community organization dedicated to helping children and families navigate the challenges of grief and loss. Based in Afton, New York, HALos focuses on building understanding and resilience among young people who have experienced loss, recognizing how grief can affect emotional health, relationships, and school performance. Through supportive programs and creative initiatives, HALos empowers children and families to rebuild self-esteem and find hope after hardship.

At the heart of HALos is The HUB, a welcoming space designed to bring healing and connection through art, community, and remembrance. The HUB includes special areas such as a Sensory Room for emotional regulation, a Community Room for gatherings, and the Art for Wellness program, which uses creative expression as a therapeutic tool. HALos also hosts Afton’s 3rd Friday Night Art Exhibit, offering participants an outlet for self-expression and emotional release.

The organization’s programs extend beyond grief support, encompassing wellness, community involvement, and coping skill development. Workshops like the Grief Recovery Method Book Study guide participants through evidence-based techniques for processing loss in healthy ways. HALos also supports volunteer initiatives, memorial projects like the Memory Wall, and partnerships such as Tommy’s Custom Woodworking, promoting creativity and purpose as part of the healing journey.
