The Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina (MCEC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting peace, understanding, and positive change across multiple counties in eastern North Carolina. MCEC provides a wide range of community-based services, including mediation, conflict resolution, mentoring, skill-building, and training programs designed to foster respect and cooperation in individuals, families, and youth. One of its key offerings is Anger Management Skill Development, a program that helps participants recognize and manage emotional triggers, build healthier coping mechanisms, and strengthen communication skills to prevent conflict before it escalates.
In addition to anger management, MCEC runs various educational and restorative programs such as Building Peace in Schools, Parenting for Success, Juvenile Mediation Services, Community Service and Restitution, and Teen Court. These initiatives empower participants to take responsibility for their actions, make positive choices, and learn lifelong conflict-resolution skills. The organization also takes an active role in community outreach and awareness campaigns, especially during key times such as Bully Prevention Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Red Ribbon Week, and Conflict Resolution Day.
MCEC’s mission thrives on collaboration, and through partnerships, volunteerism, and events like the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC), it continues to build stronger, more compassionate communities. By teaching individuals how to resolve conflicts peacefully—whether through structured anger management or restorative justice programs—MCEC plays a vital role in helping people lead more respectful, balanced, and productive lives.
