Brothers Like Me is a community-focused organization dedicated to helping individuals, particularly men, develop healthier ways to understand, manage, and respond to anger. At the core of its mission is the belief that while life’s situations cannot always be controlled, personal reactions and choices can. Through certified anger management programming that blends coaching with counseling-style support, participants are guided to build self-awareness, emotional regulation, and accountability in a respectful, judgment-free environment. The program emphasizes transforming negative thought patterns into constructive action plans that promote lasting personal and relational change.
Anger management is central to all services offered. Participants learn practical skills such as conflict de-escalation, fair-fighting techniques, emotional intelligence, and forgiveness—both of self and others. These tools are designed to reduce reactive behaviors, improve communication, and strengthen relationships within families and communities. The curriculum also addresses domestic violence prevention by exploring thought processes, emotional and social history, and the importance of personal responsibility, while helping participants understand the real-world consequences of their actions and choices.
Brothers Like Me places a strong emphasis on advocacy and emotional support, particularly within Black and other marginalized communities where unmanaged anger can lead to avoidable conflict, incarceration, and family disruption. By fostering empathy, resilience, and accountability, the organization aims to keep families intact and communities stronger. Founded by Brothers Like Me, the program is built on lived experience, professional training, and a commitment to healing, growth, and positive leadership. Participants are encouraged to take pride in their progress as they develop healthier responses that benefit not only themselves, but also their loved ones and the broader community.
