Guiding Paws and People

Guiding Paws and People is a community-centered nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals of all ages alongside their pets as they navigate conflict, crisis, and instability. As Bell County’s only crisis resource center supporting people and pets together, the organization recognizes the powerful bond between individuals and their animals and the vital role that bond plays in healing, safety, and long-term stability. Their mission is rooted in creating safer, stronger communities by ensuring that no one has to choose between their own well-being and the care of their pet during times of hardship.

Through a compassionate, inclusive approach, Guiding Paws and People provides essential support for individuals and families facing homelessness, abuse, financial hardship, or sudden crisis. Services focus on advocacy, crisis intervention, and temporary assistance designed to stabilize immediate needs while helping people move forward with confidence and dignity. By addressing both human and animal needs together, the organization reduces barriers to safety and recovery that often prevent individuals from seeking help.

Guiding Paws and People also emphasizes education and skills development, helping individuals build tools for managing stress, conflict, and emotional overwhelm during challenging life circumstances. While not a traditional anger management provider, their work supports healthier coping, de-escalation, and decision-making in moments of crisis—key components of emotional regulation and conflict resolution.
