Occupational Enterprises, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families across Southwest Virginia achieve long-term self-sufficiency, stability, and stronger family outcomes. Through a wide range of community-based, referral-driven programs, OEI provides wraparound support to TANF-eligible and low-income households facing barriers such as unemployment, substance use, reentry challenges, transportation limitations, and family disruption. Services are designed to be flexible, accessible, and participant-centered, emphasizing practical skill-building, accountability, and personal growth.
OEI’s programming addresses the full spectrum of family and individual needs, including job readiness training, parenting education, independent living and life skills, recovery and reunification support, and transportation assistance through its Cars for Work program. Many services incorporate intensive case management and coordinated partnerships with social services, courts, and community agencies to promote safety, stability, and positive outcomes for children and parents alike. Parenting programs focus on strengthening family relationships, managing conflict, and building healthier home environments during times of transition such as separation, custody disputes, or reunification after foster care.
A key component of OEI’s behavioral support offerings includes anger management services available in select counties. These programs help participants develop emotional regulation skills, improve communication, and reduce behaviors that can negatively impact families, employment, and community safety. Anger management is often integrated into broader recovery, reentry, and reunification efforts, supporting individuals as they work toward sobriety, responsible decision-making, and sustained personal change.
Additional initiatives such as Ticket to Work, financial literacy training, and the Bargain Basement Thrift Store further reinforce OEI’s mission by promoting independence, employment readiness, and community reinvestment.
