The Juvenile Diversion Program, designed for juveniles referred by the Scottsdale City Court or Maricopa Superior Court, offers a restorative approach that includes individual and group education workshops combined with community restitution. This program aims to help young offenders by involving them in constructive activities that benefit the community. Juveniles with Court Ordered Community Restitution may complete their hours at designated City of Scottsdale work sites, with certain restrictions. For more details, contact Youth & Family Services.
The Restorative Justice Intervention Program serves as an alternative to arrest and court for eligible first-time juvenile offenders. This initiative is a collaborative effort supported by the City of Scottsdale Police Department, Scottsdale City Prosecutor's Office, Maricopa County Attorney's Office, and Scottsdale Human Services.
The Scottsdale Mayor’s Youth Council (SMYC) provides high school students in Scottsdale with the opportunity to learn about local government operations and services. It also enables youth to share their perspectives with city staff and elected officials, fostering civic engagement and leadership among young people.
Additionally, Youth & Family Services operates two offices at the Scottsdale City Court, offering Alcohol, Drug, and DUI Screenings. These offices provide supportive social services to adults at the court, ensuring that individuals receive the necessary assistance and resources.
Overall, these programs and services reflect Scottsdale's commitment to restorative justice, youth engagement, and community support.
