Sun Street Centers provides court-ordered DUI programs in Monterey County, California for adults convicted of first-time and multiple drinking and driving offenses. The confidential programs, offered in a relaxed atmosphere, include 12 Hour Wet Reckless, 3 Month, 6 Month, 9 Month, and 18 Month options. Through counseling and education sessions, the goal is to help participants drive more safely and meet legal requirements to regain their licenses. The professional counseling staff works to determine if drinking is problematic and refer to further treatment if needed. State law mandates the program durations, so they cannot be accelerated. However, absences are allowed and must be made up. Participants can also request transfers between classes if needed. With proper procedure, hours can be transferred to other California counties within 21 days of the court order. Notification is required if re-arrested for DUI during enrollment.
