MAAC's Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Education Program in San Diego County aims to reduce DUI incidents through counseling services for individuals with restricted driving privileges due to DUI charges. MAAC is one of three licensed providers in the county, serving nearly 1,600 participants monthly. Referrals come from the court, probation, or DMV. MAAC's certified counselors provide individual and group counseling, education, and resources to help participants and families examine their relationship with alcohol/drugs, understand causes behind their DUI, and prevent recurrence. The programs run 6 weeks to 18 months with flexible English and Spanish sessions available 5 days a week. Since 1976, the program has helped over 63,000 individuals re-evaluate substance use and promote safer roads and communities. The summary covers the goals, services, participation details, and impact of MAAC's DUI education programming in San Diego County.
