SB-38 is a mandatory counseling and education program established by the California DMV for individuals aged 18 and above who have multiple DUI convictions within a 10-year period. The program spans 18 months and involves 76 hours of group, educational, and individual counseling sessions. While attendance at 12-Step meetings is recommended, it is not obligatory. CADA's SB-38 program, exclusive to Santa Barbara, caters to both English and Spanish speakers and allows self-referral. Participants must personally cover the program fee of $2,100, as health insurance and Medi-Cal are not accepted under state law.
