The DUI Risk Reduction Program is a state-certified course mandated by Georgia law for individuals whose driver's licenses have been suspended or revoked due to alcohol-related violations, such as Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Boating Under the Influence (BUI). To reinstate their licenses, participants must complete a comprehensive Alcohol or Drug Risk Reduction Program (RRP), which also applies to individuals facing drug possession charges under the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.
The RRP consists of two key components: the Assessment Component and the Intervention Component. The Assessment, a 143-question screening, evaluates the individual’s alcohol and drug use and its impact on driving. Following this, participants engage in the Intervention Component, which employs the Prime for Life program. This motivational intervention spans 20 hours and is delivered in a group setting, focusing on the therapeutic education of the effects of substance use on driving.
The total cost for the program is $360, encompassing the Assessment fee of $100, the Intervention Component fee of $235, and a $25 textbook charge. All fees are non-refundable. To enroll, participants must complete the Needs Assessment in person, which takes 20-45 minutes and must be scheduled before class registration. Classes are generally held on weekends and occasionally on Monday evenings. Timeliness is crucial, as late arrivals may result in loss of tuition fees. This program is designed to promote responsible driving behaviors and reduce the risks associated with alcohol and drug use.
