DUI/Risk Reduction Program Overview
In Georgia, individuals convicted of alcohol or drug offenses must complete a DUI/Risk Reduction program to restore their driving privileges. This requirement, established by law in 1999, applies to those whose licenses have been suspended or revoked due to DUI, DWI, drug offenses, or underage possession of alcohol or drugs. The program offered by Collins Driving School is licensed by the Georgia Department of Driver Services and fulfills the alcohol and drug education requirements for court-ordered classes unrelated to driver’s license issues.
The process begins with a mandatory assessment, consisting of 130 questions related to the individual’s lifestyle, which takes approximately 30-45 minutes to complete. Students receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of the assessment. Payments can be made via cash, money order, or credit/debit cards. The assessment is available during business hours, and individuals needing alternate arrangements are encouraged to contact the office manager.
Following the assessment, participants must complete a 20-hour in-classroom DUI/Risk Reduction course. Collins Driving School offers this course weekly, adhering to DDS regulations that prohibit late entry into sessions; therefore, arriving 15-20 minutes early is recommended. It is important to note that course fees must be paid prior to the first day of class. The program also seeks to provide a certified Spanish-speaking instructor to accommodate diverse participants.
