Under Georgia law, individuals charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or illegal possession of alcohol and/or drugs must complete a Risk Reduction Intervention Program to reinstate their driver’s license. This program, commonly referred to as the “DUI Class,” consists of a two-step process. The first step requires participants to complete a Needs Assessment, which takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes and incurs a fee of $100, as mandated by state regulations.
The second step involves attending a 20-hour Risk Reduction Class, which can be completed over 2½ days. Classes are available on weekends (Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM and Monday evening from 6 PM to 10 PM) or on weekdays (from 6 PM to 10 PM Monday through Friday), offering flexibility for participants. Notably, these classes are also available via remote learning through the ZOOM application, making it easier for individuals to fulfill their requirements from the comfort of their own homes.
Upon successful completion of the class, participants receive a Certificate of Completion. The total fee for the Risk Reduction Class is $260, which includes a $235 class fee plus a $25 workbook fee. For those looking to register, an initial registration form is available online. Completing this program is essential for those seeking to regain their driving privileges after a DUI charge in Georgia.
