The Alcohol and Risk Reduction Program DUI School at the Discovery Center of West Georgia provides essential guidance for individuals navigating the DUI Risk Reduction process. Understanding the necessary steps can be challenging, so we have outlined a clear, step-by-step approach based on common questions from students.
Firstly, participants must complete a self-assessment comprising approximately 143 questions about their lifestyle, which takes around 30-35 minutes and costs $100. This assessment is a prerequisite for enrolling in the subsequent 20-hour classroom course, the Risk Reduction/DUI Program, which costs $260 and must be paid before classes begin.
Following the course, individuals may need a Clinical Evaluation from a provider approved by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, with an associated fee of $150. If treatment is recommended, students must enroll in ASAM-1 treatment with an approved provider, which involves attending three-hour sessions typically once a week.
For those facing a second or subsequent DUI charge within five or ten years, it is mandatory to install an ignition interlock device in their vehicle. It is important to note that all fees associated with the DUI Risk Reduction program are mandated by law and cannot vary among providers. This structured program aims to ensure compliance and promote responsible driving habits among participants.
