At Bobby E. Wright Comprehensive Behavioral Health Center, we are dedicated to delivering exceptional behavioral health services, including substance use treatment and support for developmental disabilities, to the Westside communities of Garfield Park, Austin, North Lawndale, and nearby areas. Our approach to substance use treatment aligns with the standards set by the American Society of Addiction Medicine and includes two key levels of care.
Level I provides outpatient treatment with sessions that generally involve fewer than nine hours per week, incorporating individual therapy, group therapy, and self-help groups. Level II offers intensive outpatient treatment or partial hospitalization with a structured program requiring a minimum of nine treatment hours per week. This includes day or evening programs where participants receive comprehensive treatment while living at home or in specialized residences. Our program addresses various aspects such as intoxication and withdrawal potential, medical and emotional conditions, readiness for change, and relapse risk.
In addition to treatment, our Prevention Program focuses on reducing substance use before it leads to more severe consequences. We provide families with effective strategies to prevent alcohol and substance abuse among youth, enhance social support networks, and organize community coalition meetings. Our prevention efforts target students in grades 6 through 12, aiming to foster healthier behaviors and environments in Chicago’s Westside communities and surrounding areas.
