Substance Use & Recovery

At Howard Brown Health, we offer specialized support for individuals navigating substance use challenges through our Recovering with Pride (RWP) program. Our dedicated team, including social workers, counselors, psychologists, and Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselors, provides comprehensive services such as assessments, individual and group therapy, and peer recovery coaching. Whether your goal is complete abstinence, moderation, or simply seeking guidance, RWP is committed to supporting your recovery journey.

Our approach integrates harm reduction, a trauma-informed framework, and interpersonal interventions to promote holistic wellness. We recognize that you are more than your substance use and strive to address the broader context of your health and well-being. Our therapy and recovery coaching are available in both individual and group settings and are tailored to meet the unique needs of the LGBTQ+ community. Our clinical expertise extends to issues such as trauma, grief and loss, suicidality, eating disorders, and co-occurring medical conditions. We utilize a range of therapeutic modalities, including cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, narrative, multicultural, existential, and psychodynamic therapies.

RWP also offers harm reduction supplies, including sterile syringes, fentanyl testing strips, and naloxone, to help minimize the risks associated with substance use. For those in need of medication-assisted treatment (MAT), our team collaborates closely with medical providers to enhance access to MAT, which combines medications like buprenorphine or naltrexone with behavioral therapies. MAT supports recovery by normalizing brain chemistry, reducing cravings, and lowering the risk of overdose.
