The Substance Abuse Program (SAP) is dedicated to addressing and treating substance abuse and dependence issues. Recognizing chemical dependency as a chronic and progressive disease influenced by genetic, psychosocial, and environmental factors, SAP offers a range of specialized programs to cater to diverse needs.
Key offerings include the Opiate Treatment Program (OTP), which combines Methadone medication with individual and group therapy to treat opiate dependence. The Medication Assisted Treatment Program (MAT) utilizes medications like Suboxone, Sublocade, Subutex, Vivitrol, and Brixadi, alongside therapy, to address opiate or alcohol dependence. For those requiring a more intensive level of care, the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides structured group counseling and individual support for various substance use disorders. Additionally, the Continuing Care Program focuses on relapse prevention, offering counseling on recovery motivation, emotional triggers, and relationship repair.
The Opioid Overdose Prevention and Education Program educates Lake County residents on opioid effects, overdose prevention, and naloxone use. Eligibility for SAP's programs requires clients to be 18 or older with a diagnosis of opiate or alcohol dependence or substance use disorder, meeting outpatient care criteria through evidence-based assessments.
Fees are income-based, with a sliding fee schedule available for Lake County residents, and funding is partially provided by the Department of Human Services Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse.
