Alcoholic Rehabilitation Community Home (A.R.C.H.)

The Alcoholic Rehabilitation Community Home (ARCH) is a Level III.1 extended care residential treatment center dedicated to helping men overcome substance use disorders. Located in Granite City, Illinois, ARCH operates as a non-profit organization supported by the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (DASA), along with funding from the United Way and local mental health boards. Governed by a local Board of Directors, ARCH offers a structured environment for clients to rebuild their lives and achieve independence.

At ARCH, clients begin by addressing personal issues and exploring their feelings, using both existing and newly developed recovery skills. The program focuses on three primary areas to facilitate change. First, clients adhere to structured Rules and Expectations to foster responsible behavior, such as maintaining employment and adhering to daily routines. Second, an individualized treatment plan is created, involving a commitment contract between the client and counselor, to address specific strengths and needs. Third, clients engage in meaningful interactions, countering isolation—a common issue in substance dependence—by developing healthy communication skills with staff, peers, and support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Family involvement is also integral to the recovery process at ARCH. The center may involve family members in counseling to enhance communication, assess family dynamics, and make necessary referrals. Additionally, ARCH provides DUI Evaluations and Driver's Risk Education (DRE) classes, licensed by the State of Illinois. Overall, ARCH is committed to supporting clients through every step of their recovery journey.
