At McDonough District Hospital, the Behavioral Health and Psychiatry team emphasizes the importance of mental health alongside physical well-being. Recognizing that mental health can often be overlooked, especially during challenging times, the team provides support to help manage life's difficulties. While a strong network of friends and family can be invaluable, professional therapy offers a unique perspective and skills to improve life outcomes. Our services address a wide range of issues, from job stress and relationship problems to more significant concerns such as grief, childhood trauma, emotional instability, eating disorders, and substance abuse.
Our comprehensive services include individual, family, couple, and group therapies. The dedicated staff, consisting of licensed clinical counselors and social workers, brings extensive experience and ongoing training to their practice. We aim to meet each patient’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs with high-quality care.
Specialized areas of expertise include trauma therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), substance use counseling, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), attention difficulties counseling, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). Our focused therapy groups cover Anger Management, Chronic Pain Management, DBT, and sessions for teenagers and pre-teens.
If you are experiencing mood instability, prolonged sadness, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, substance use issues, sleep disturbances, relationship conflicts, attention problems, or unmanageable anger, seeking counseling might be beneficial. Our office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
