Boone County Courts Intervention Program

The Boone County Alcohol and Drug Program, established in 1992, provides comprehensive services for individuals under court jurisdiction charged with alcohol or drug-related offenses. Additionally, referrals from other agencies are accepted. The program is designed to support participants through assessment, referral, case management, education, intensive correctional treatment, and urine testing. Program fees vary from $10 to $500, and a Fourth Amendment Waiver is required for participation. The program is staffed by Certified Probation Officers and Certified Substance Abuse Management Specialists accredited by the Judicial Conference of Indiana.

A key feature of the program is its Prime for Life education curriculum, which aims to challenge beliefs and attitudes contributing to high-risk alcohol and drug use. This prevention and intervention-focused course helps participants reduce risks associated with high-risk drinking or drug use, mitigate potential health and impairment issues, and protect the things they value most. Using interactive presentations, group discussions, and workbook activities, the program’s engaging teaching approach encourages meaningful learning. Participants benefit from multimedia resources, including videos, audio clips, and animations, to enhance the experience.

In addition to education, many participants may be required to attend support group meetings to aid their recovery. Local meeting information and proof of attendance forms are available through the program. Referrals to Indiana Department of Mental Health-approved treatment providers are also available, ensuring participants receive additional support tailored to their needs.

This program provides a structured path for individuals to address substance use issues, comply with court requirements, and move toward healthier, more responsible lifestyles.
