The Hamilton County Court Assisted Rehabilitative Efforts (C.A.R.E.) Program is a certified Court Alcohol and Drug Program designed to support individuals involved in the court system due to alcohol or drug-related offenses. Operated by a team of six certified probation officers, the program focuses on providing substance use assessments and referrals to appropriate education or treatment services. While the C.A.R.E. Program does not directly offer education or treatment, it ensures clients are connected to approved providers based on their location, financial situation, and specific needs.
Referrals may include various levels of care such as education, early intervention, outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient programs, inpatient and residential care, mental health services, or 12-step meetings. Additionally, the program facilitates participation in the Victim Impact Panel (VIP), which helps offenders understand the consequences of impaired driving. Clients may attend panels hosted by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) either virtually or in person, with the option to complete an online panel through MADD’s platform.
The program requires a $150 fee, collected by the Clerk of Hamilton County, and clients are responsible for any additional costs related to recommended education or treatment. The C.A.R.E. Program serves as a vital resource for individuals seeking to fulfill court requirements while accessing rehabilitative services aimed at reducing recidivism and supporting recovery. For those mandated to attend a Victim Impact Panel, compliance requires obtaining a certificate of completion and submitting it to the Probation Department.
