LADOS Division 1

Lake County Alcohol and Drug Offense Services (LADOS) offers comprehensive support for individuals addressing substance use issues through assessments and educational programs. The program begins with a clinical substance abuse assessment, designed to identify problematic behaviors and determine the most appropriate intervention level. Timely appointments are essential, as rescheduling or missed appointments without 24-hour notice can result in penalties. Based on the assessment findings or court orders, clients may be referred to specific educational courses or other necessary resources.

LADOS provides two levels of substance abuse education aimed at reducing risk and promoting healthier lifestyles. Level 2 is a 10-hour Basic Substance Abuse Education course, targeting individuals with moderate risk factors. It focuses on understanding chemical dependency, making healthier life choices, and adjusting behaviors to support long-term success. Level 3 is a 20-hour Advanced Substance Abuse Education course for individuals with more complex needs or repeated offenses. This course explores the deeper consequences of substance use, emphasizing the importance of behavioral changes and lifestyle adjustments. Additionally, participants in Level 3 may be required to complete a Victim Impact Panel (VIP), a program designed to enhance understanding of how substance-related actions can affect others.

All classes and assessments are held at the Lake County Community Corrections Building in Crown Point, IN. With its structured and evidence-based approach, LADOS aims to reduce recidivism, promote self-awareness, and support individuals in making positive changes, particularly for those mandated to complete DUI-related education programs.
