The Putnam County Courts offer comprehensive programs to address various aspects of offender management and rehabilitation, with a strong emphasis on DUI and substance abuse-related cases. The Pretrial Services Program aims to reduce jail populations by assessing the risk levels of detainees using the Indiana Risk Assessment System and facilitating their release under court orders. This program not only saves costs but also improves court appearance rates and public safety.
The Alcohol and Drug Unit (PCADU) is a key component of the Probation Department, focusing on individuals convicted of alcohol and drug-related offenses. Certified by the Indiana Judicial Center, this unit provides assessments, individualized service plans, referrals to substance abuse education or treatment programs, and ongoing compliance monitoring. The goal is to ensure offenders fulfill their court-ordered obligations while addressing their substance use issues effectively.
The department also offers specialized supervision for high-risk offenders through the Enhanced Supervision Unit (ESU), including violent offenders and those required to register as sex offenders. Additionally, the Intake and Supervision Units manage offenders on probation, helping them comply with court orders and promoting accountability through tailored supervision levels.
These programs collectively ensure that offenders are provided with the necessary resources, education, and support to make positive changes while prioritizing community safety. DUI classes and substance abuse interventions play a vital role in these efforts, equipping offenders with the tools needed for rehabilitation and compliance.
