Hawkeye Community College collaborates with local judicial districts to provide court-mandated classes for individuals directed by the courts. These courses are designed to meet specific legal requirements and include programs such as DUI, Driver Improvement, OWI, and Children in the Middle. It is important to note that the college does not have access to court records, so individuals are responsible for ensuring they attend the correct program. If there is uncertainty about which class to take, individuals are advised to consult their attorney or the clerk of court in the county where the arrest occurred. Hawkeye Community College will not offer refunds or credits if the wrong class is attended.
One such class is the 12-Hour DUI (Drinking Driver) course, which is designed for individuals over the age of 18 who have been arrested for DUI. This program helps participants understand the risks associated with alcohol and drug use and encourages them to adopt healthier behaviors to reduce future risks. The class meets all state requirements and is open to anyone who wishes to learn more about substance-related issues, regardless of whether they have been court-ordered to attend.
