Heartland Family Service offers comprehensive outpatient Substance Use Treatment services aimed at helping individuals overcome addiction and achieve long-term recovery. Their treatment model integrates a variety of approaches, including individual and family therapy, gender-specific groups, and a dual-diagnosis approach to address co-occurring mental health conditions. Clients receive on-site mental health evaluations, psychiatric assessments, medication management, and access to emergency services. The program is designed to support clients in establishing abstinence, developing a relapse prevention plan, strengthening family support systems, and creating healthy living environments.
The services are available in select counties across Iowa and Nebraska, and they are offered on a sliding fee scale. The Iowa program is supported by the Iowa Department of Public Health and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, while the Nebraska program is funded through the American Rescue Plan Act and administered by the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska.
In addition to standard treatment services, Heartland Family Service offers the Prime for Life – OWI/DUI Course. This 12-hour program is approved by the Iowa Department of Transportation and is specifically designed for individuals referred by the court for Operating While Intoxicated or Driving Under the Influence offenses. Participants in this course gain critical knowledge about the consequences of substance use and complete self-assessment activities to better understand their behaviors. Successful completion of the course is reported to the Iowa DOT.
