The 12-Hour State Mandated Drinking Driver Class is designed for individuals over the age of 18 who have been arrested for an OWI (Operating While Intoxicated). This class helps participants understand the risks associated with alcohol and drug use and encourages the necessary changes to reduce the likelihood of future issues. It meets state requirements under sections 321J.2 and 321J.17, Subsection 2.
The class is spread over three days, totaling 12 hours, with evening sessions typically held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM during the second week of each month. Participants should bring their OWI case number to class. The cost of the class is $180, which includes the required manual and electronic notification to the Iowa Department of Transportation. Payment must be made in full before the start of the class and can be processed via PayPal or by sending a cashier’s check or money order. Personal checks are not accepted.
To register, participants must complete the enrollment process and pay in advance, as spaces are not guaranteed until full payment is received. Please note that all fees are non-refundable. The class provides the necessary education to comply with legal requirements while helping individuals reduce their risk of alcohol and drug-related problems in the future.
