The PRIME FOR LIFE course in Iowa is a mandatory 12-hour educational program for individuals arrested for drinking and driving. Designed by the Prevention Research Institute, this therapeutic course helps participants reflect on their drinking behaviors, particularly their decision to drink and drive. The program is offered at various locations across the state, including the Center for Alcohol & Drug Services, Inc., which holds classes on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (with a one-hour lunch break) and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon at the East Locust facility.
Participants are required to complete registration before the course begins, which includes providing personal details such as social security number, contact information, and court case number. The course has a registration fee, which is $115 for sessions held in 2017 and $180 for those starting in 2018. Payments must be made in advance, and no payments are accepted on the first day of class. If the course is taken at a different facility, participants should follow similar registration and payment procedures. Additionally, the Department of Transportation will provide course credit upon successful completion, provided all required information is submitted.
