BestLife Emotional Health & Wellness, licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Bureau of Substance Addiction Services, offers a comprehensive 38-hour Massachusetts Impaired Driver Program. This program is designed for individuals referred by the Court or the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV). Conducted through the TeleWell virtual platform, the program focuses on educating participants about the impact of alcohol and other drugs on driving, with the ultimate goal of fostering behavioral change to reduce the risk of future DUI offenses.
The program includes an initial assessment followed by 16 group sessions, each lasting two hours. These sessions explore the consequences of substance use, the dangers of impaired driving, and the effects on others. Participants also attend a mid-point interview and an exit interview upon completion. In addition, individuals are required to attend four hours of community-based self-help meetings. Special programming is available for youth under 21, individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodiverse participants, and those with a history of trauma or specific cultural needs.
For individuals with multiple offenses, BestLife provides a 52-week aftercare treatment program combining group and individual counseling. This program emphasizes relapse prevention and recovery wellness, aiming to reduce recidivism and promote long-term behavioral change. Fees for the program are the responsibility of the individual, unless deemed indigent by the Court. Health insurance may cover the costs for individuals in the Second/Multiple Offender Aftercare Treatment program.
