The Massachusetts Impaired Driver Program (MID) is a court-mandated program for individuals convicted of driving under the influence (DUI). The program is designed for first offenders and spans 16 weeks, with sessions held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Facilitated by Master's level clinicians, the program focuses on substance education and addressing illegal behavior through a personalized treatment plan. Participants are required to complete 2 hours of Victim Impact classes, attend AA/NA meetings, and engage in group therapy sessions.
For second offenders, the Second Offender Aftercare Program (SOA) provides additional support and treatment, including individual counseling and group therapy. This program is designed to address substance use disorders (SUDs) and co-occurring mental health issues, with a curriculum that covers topics such as the neurobiology of addiction, coping skills, and the legal consequences of impaired driving. The SOA program is designed to help individuals in their recovery journey and ensure compliance with court and RMV mandates.
Both programs offer structured outpatient therapy and are aimed at providing participants with the tools and knowledge necessary to overcome addiction and prevent future offenses. The program also includes substance addiction evaluations and mental health assessments as needed.
