The Massachusetts Impaired Driving Program, offered by Spectrum, provides essential education and support for individuals convicted of Driving Under the Influence (DUI). The Driver Alcohol Education Program is a 16-week mandatory program designed for first-time DUI offenders. Participants are required to attend sixteen 2-hour group sessions and two Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings while remaining abstinent from alcohol and drugs. This program is court-mandated, and it aims to help individuals understand the consequences of impaired driving and prevent future offenses.
For individuals with multiple DUI convictions, Spectrum also offers a Second Offender Aftercare program. This program is tailored to serve those who have been court-referred due to repeated DUI offenses. Participants must attend weekly group sessions and monthly counseling meetings for at least one year, with the possibility of extending up to two years or the length of their probation. As with the first-time offender program, participants must abstain from alcohol and drugs. Successful completion of the Second Offender Aftercare program is a requirement for individuals to regain their driving privileges, as mandated by the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Both programs are available at multiple locations, including Framingham, Gardner, Milford, and Worcester.
