Gosnold’s Massachusetts Impaired Driver (MID) and Second Offender Aftercare (SOA) programs provide essential support for individuals convicted of impaired driving offenses. The MID program is designed for first-time offenders and offers a structured 16-week educational group. Participants engage in 40 hours of services, including assessments, community meetings, and self-help sessions, aimed at addressing alcohol abuse and driving behaviors. The program also touches on other substances of abuse. Referrals are typically made by district courts, and participation may be mandated by the Registry of Motor Vehicles for those under 21.
The SOA program, on the other hand, is for individuals convicted of a second impaired driving offense. This program serves as an alternative to a minimum of 30 days of incarceration, with referrals made by the district court. It continues the treatment efforts from the initial conviction and is a requirement for those seeking a hardship driver’s license from the Registry of Motor Vehicles. Both programs are tailored to meet the needs of participants, offering ongoing recovery support, educational resources, and assistance in reintegrating into the community. Gosnold is committed to providing comprehensive care that includes family education, school-based counseling, medical care integration, and collaboration with prevention coalitions to foster long-term recovery.
