The Massachusetts Impaired Driving (MID) Program, offered by SSTAR, provides treatment services for individuals charged with a first or second offense Operating Under the Influence (OUI) violation in Massachusetts. The program is designed to help clients meet the requirements outlined in Section 24D of Chapter 90 of the Massachusetts General Laws.
For first offenders, the program is an outpatient substance use disorder service that lasts for 16 weeks, with two-hour sessions. Upon completion, clients receive a certificate and an exit interview. The total cost for this program is $1,342.56, and it is not covered by insurance. Clients are required to pay out of pocket or provide a court waiver.
For second offenders, the program lasts 12 months and may include individual and group counseling sessions. It is covered by insurance, though clients are responsible for co-pays, deductibles, or any cost-sharing requirements. Insurance verification is required before scheduling the intake appointment.
Payments for the program can be made online, by phone, in-person (with a mask required), or by mail, and certified bank checks and money orders are accepted. Personal checks are not accepted, and a minimum down payment of $502.56 is required.
