PRIME For Life is an evidence-based education program designed to help individuals reduce their risk of alcohol and drug-related problems throughout their lives. Offered by Child and Family Charities, the program employs a nonjudgmental approach to increase openness to change and encourage participants to make healthier choices. Based on thorough research, the program avoids scare tactics and focuses on providing factual, actionable information.
PRIME For Life serves both youth and adults and is delivered through a 6-20 hour curriculum tailored to various settings, including schools, workplaces, and community groups. Participants gain insights into distinguishing between high-risk and low-risk behaviors, understanding the development of substance-related problems, and adopting strategies to prevent them. The program also incorporates self-assessment exercises that help individuals reflect on their values, recognize personal risks, and safeguard what matters most in their lives.
Widely implemented across the United States and internationally, PRIME For Life is utilized by organizations ranging from schools and employers to the U.S. military and other community groups. Child and Family Charities proudly offers this impactful program in Lansing, collaborating with local school districts to empower youth and adults to make informed, healthier decisions.
Developed by the Prevention Research Institute (PRI), PRIME For Life has demonstrated positive behavior change through rigorous evaluation. The program equips participants with essential tools to reduce substance use risks, understand addiction's complexities, and build resilience against life challenges. Through this initiative, Child and Family Charities aims to foster a safer and healthier community for all.
