The Alcohol Highway Safety Program (AHSP), licensed by CAIT and SARF in Michigan, offers two levels of educational courses designed for individuals with alcohol-related offenses. Level I is a ten-hour class for first-time alcohol-related traffic offenders, focusing on the effects of alcohol on the human body, the disease of alcoholism, and current drinking and driving laws. Level II, an Advanced Workshop in Alcohol-Related Education (AWARE), is for individuals with multiple alcohol offenses or those who have undergone prior treatment or educational programs. It provides deeper insights into the consequences of drunk driving, the physiological damage caused by alcohol, and the broader impact of alcoholism on personal and professional life.

The AHSP is a one-day Saturday class, running from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. In addition to the classes, participants can complete a MADD Michigan Victim Impact Panel (VIP) on the same day and location, following registration for the AHSP class. The program also offers substance abuse assessments and driver’s license evaluations at its Fraser location, conducted by experienced, licensed counselors. These assessments are essential for individuals seeking to regain their driver’s license after alcohol-related offenses. The service includes a 13-panel drug screen with same-day results and requires participants to provide relevant documents such as driver records, treatment history, and support group attendance logs. AHSP is committed to helping individuals understand the serious implications of alcohol-related offenses while providing the necessary resources for recovery and license reinstatement.
