If your Michigan driver’s license has been revoked due to operating under the influence convictions, the Michigan Secretary of State (DLAD) requires a substance abuse evaluation conducted by a qualified professional before scheduling a hearing. The evaluation is a crucial step in the process, and choosing the right agency is essential for ensuring a thorough and accurate assessment. It is important to be well-informed and make the best decision, as you are only permitted one opportunity per year to request a hearing.
To guide you through the process, we offer helpful resources, including a downloadable checklist with essential questions to ask when selecting an evaluation agency. We also provide a simple DLAD Planner with advice on what to do and avoid during the process, helping you stay focused amid potentially misleading advice. Additional resources include an AA/NA sign-in sheet, a directory of support group locations, and a DLAD request packet with detailed instructions for your hearing.
Our evaluations are comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments that consider your unique situation. Conducted by an experienced Licensed Master Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, the evaluation follows the DSM-V and ASAM criteria, with recommendations tailored to your individual needs. We ensure transparency by reviewing the recommendations with clients and offering referrals to community resources as necessary. For your assessment, you will need to bring relevant court or organization documents, case numbers, and contact information for the agency receiving your evaluation. The completed evaluation is typically provided within five to seven business days.
