Steering Clear: A Residential Alternative to Jail for First-Time OVI Offenders
Steering Clear is a 72-hour residential program designed for first-time OVI offenders, offering a constructive alternative to incarceration. This program combines professional counseling, educational resources, and group discussions to address individual needs related to alcohol and drug abuse. Certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Steering Clear not only informs participants about substance use but also provides access to necessary resources for those seeking further assistance.
Scheduled sessions for 2024 include dates from September 26-29 and November 7-10. The program is open to adults aged 18 and older, with a registration cost of $375, payable at the time of enrollment. For recipients of Ohio Medicaid, a discounted rate of $237.48 is available, provided they have not previously utilized this discount within the last six years. Participants have the option to reserve a private room for an additional fee of $200, with availability on a first-come, first-served basis.
To ensure a smooth registration process, full payment is required before enrollment. Participants needing to reschedule must do so at least three weeks prior to their session; otherwise, a $200 fee will apply, and any late cancellations will forfeit all payments, requiring the full program fee to be paid again. It's important to note that all payments are non-refundable, emphasizing the commitment to the program and its guidelines.
