The McIntyre Center Driver Intervention Program (DIP) is a 72-hour residential initiative designed for individuals arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired or under the influence of substances. Established in 1985, this program is Ohio's oldest and most highly recommended, aiming to reduce the incidence of OVI cases by fostering community safety through education. Participants engage in a comprehensive curriculum that covers legal, financial, medical, and social aspects related to OVIs, ensuring a thorough understanding of the consequences of impaired driving.

The DIP emphasizes a respectful and confidential environment, free from alcohol and drugs, where clients can comfortably fulfill their program requirements. Participants benefit from ODADAS-certified screenings and receive practical resources tailored to their individual needs. The program format includes a combination of direct instruction, guest speakers, films, and group discussions, providing a rich educational experience.

Health and safety are prioritized, with COVID-19 precautions in place, including health screenings and possible adjustments to program logistics. Clients are required to check in on Thursday evenings, and they will stay in a hotel facility, with meals provided throughout the program. A strict policy prohibits alcohol and recreational drug use prior to attendance, as participants may be tested. The DIP encourages individuals to arrive prepared and aware of the guidelines to maximize their experience and growth during the program. For detailed information about dates, registration, and frequently asked questions, prospective participants are encouraged to explore the provided resources.
