The Elite Driver Intervention Program (DIP) in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a 72-hour educational initiative certified by the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services of Ohio. Designed to address substance use and traffic offenses, the program offers a comprehensive curriculum totaling a minimum of 21 hours, which includes a one-hour screening, 15 hours of substance use and traffic education, and five hours of small group discussions. Utilizing an evidence-based approach from the Safety Center in California, participants receive individualized workbooks, educational DVDs, and additional materials to enhance their learning experience.
Held at Hyatt Place on Chester Road, the program runs from Thursday at 5 PM to Sunday at 5 PM, providing participants with meals throughout their stay. Registration fees are $375 for double occupancy and $570 for single occupancy, with specific payment policies and a nonrefundable deposit required.
Participants must arrive drug- and alcohol-free, with strict safety protocols in place, including searches of personal belongings. Additionally, cell phone use is restricted during program hours to foster an environment conducive to learning and self-reflection. The program calendar for 2024 includes sessions throughout the year, offering a structured opportunity for individuals to understand the factors leading to their offenses and how to prevent future incidents.
