Project Detour Driver Intervention Program
Project Detour is a comprehensive, state-certified driver intervention program designed for individuals aged 18 and older who are facing their first OVI (Operating a Vehicle while under the Influence) offense. This 72-hour residential program, certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, focuses on educating participants about the consequences of substance use while driving.
Held monthly at Motel 6 in Streetsboro, Ohio, the program begins on Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m. and concludes on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Participants engage in both large and small group educational sessions, receive individualized substance abuse screenings, and attend state-mandated presentations led by licensed counselors and certified prevention specialists. The total cost of the program is $350, which includes double occupancy accommodations and meals provided throughout the weekend. For those preferring more privacy, a single room option is available for an additional $150.
Payment can be made through cash, money orders, cashier’s checks, or credit cards, though personal checks are not accepted. Please note that a 3.5% processing fee applies to credit card payments, and all fees are non-refundable. Individuals receiving state assistance, such as Medicaid, SSDI, TANF, or SSI, may be eligible for financial assistance to help cover costs.
Project Detour provides a structured and supportive environment for individuals seeking to address their substance use and reduce the risk of future offenses, fostering personal growth and accountability.
